Blank Word Search Template

• First choose your topic - for example "The Summer" - and write in the heading space.



• Next choose the correct number of words suitable for the blank word search grid you're working on, and write them in the empty boxes at the top.



• Scatter these words around the grid. I usually put them across the grid, down it or diagonally across it.



• Finally 'hide' these words by putting in random letters to fill in the gaps. I often do a few false leads eg. if one of your words is 'swimming', you could start 'swim' off but then continue with other letters not in the word.
  
  
• Photocopy your word search if more than one person is going to do it. If you're using it for a mixed ability class in school, it might be better having a few levels available.
